First Race of the Season – How Did It Feel?

It was great to get started! The legs felt good, but it's always a bit unfamiliar in the first race of the season, especially getting used to riding in the peloton again.

What was your race strategy, and how did it play out?

Our plan was to take it easy in the beginning and then be ready for attacks later in the race. Gustav and I were saving ourselves for the sprint. Unfortunately, we missed the decisive break, so the strategy didn’t work out perfectly, but overall, it was decent for the first race of the season.

Can you take us through the most critical moment of the race?

A large group got away, and Hjalmar, Calle, and I were positioned quite well and saw it happening. However, the road got completely blocked, and we couldn’t respond in time. We then decided to start chasing and coordinated with a few other teams to get some help, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.

How is the team feeling?

The atmosphere is good! Everyone is excited to be back racing and motivated to perform.

How did the teamwork function during the race?

It worked quite well, considering it was the first race of the season and also a hectic race where it’s difficult to stay together. Overall, it was decent.

What’s next for you?

I’ll stay in the Netherlands to train and do a few smaller races before finishing with the Olympia’s Tour, where the goal is to achieve some strong results.
